Using the vault¶
The vault runs on Vaultwarden, which works with the standard Bitwarden apps, so anything you find about using Bitwarden applies here too.
Signing in¶
Go to passwords.f3nation.com and sign in with your email and master password. We recommend the website over the Bitwarden apps and browser extension; see the disclaimer for why.
Finding a password¶
After you sign in you'll see everything you have access to. Region passwords live in your region's Collection:
- In the left sidebar, under your region's organization, pick your region's collection, or just type in the search box at the top.
- Click an item to see it. Use the copy buttons next to the username and password rather than selecting the text.
If you can't see your region's collection, your account may not be confirmed yet. See Getting started.
Adding or editing a password¶
You need read/write access (the password_manager role) for this.
Read-only users (password_reader) can view and copy, but not change anything.
- Click New > Item (or open an existing item and click Edit).
- Fill in the name, username, password and the website address.
- Under Ownership, choose your region's organization, and under Collections, tick your region's collection. If an item isn't in a collection, nobody else in your region can see it.
- Click Save.
Use the password generator (the arrows icon next to the password field) when you create or change an account's password.
When someone rolls off¶
You don't need to do anything in the vault. Access follows the
password_manager / password_reader roles in the F3 Nation admin site:
when a region admin
removes someone's role, they lose access within the hour.
If that person knew a password by heart (or might have saved it somewhere), change the password on the account itself, then update it in the vault.
Learning more¶
The Bitwarden help center covers every feature in depth. Features tied to Bitwarden's paid plans (Send, emergency access and so on) may be turned off on this server.
